Welcome Back! Please visit this site for updated news on our Art program!
A little info about me... I received my BA at Columbia College in 2001 with a focus in applied art and graphic design. Soon after graduating, I enrolled at DePaul's MED program where I received my Master's and certification in Elementary Education with and Endorsement in art in 2003.
I started my teaching career in 2000 at Yollo Calli Youth Center in Pilsen where I taught High School students the art of Mosaics. Shortly afterwards I then began as an art teacher at Carpenter School where I developed the art department and began my first mural work with my students- which I later continued at Ogden. While at Ogden, I received an IB certification as well as completed an MYP training session. With now 10 years of teaching art, I continues to strive for the latest art techniques and practices for my students. My teachings have a real focus on Art Appreciation at the IB level starting at the Pre-K level and on. My hopes are that I will open new doors for my students to see art as an integral part of human life.

Though we differ in the way we look and things we believe in, there's something we all share: emotion. Human emotion is innate in all of us; it's something we're born with and something we die with. Happiness, sadness, love, hatred, worries, and indifference-these are things that constantly occur on our daily lives. -Unknown So lets reflect...
Please make sure that your child has a sketchbook (spiral bound preferred) every week for art class. K-5th will be using their sketchbooks to document new ideas and techniques that they will be learning every week. The sketchbook will also serve as a place to hold many great art pieces that your child will create this year. 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will continue to use their sketchbooks to follow the MYP Art guidelines. They will continue to use the books as a place to document their ideas, work process and self evaluations on all their projects. The sketchbook will serve as an important tool and must be kept in good condition the entire year.
